Arimidex and Osteoporosis

I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. I had a lumpectomy in August and finished radiation mid-Oct. I returned to my Oncologist mid Oct and he ordered a bone density test and Arimidex and I have an appt to return to him in mid-Jan. I read the results online which said that I have osteoporosis. No call from the doctor about my test. I was in to my Gyn for my yearly pap test and she read the results online and told me that she was sure that my oncologist would not have me taking the Arimidex because of the increased risk of bone fractures and also said that I should be put on one of the meds for osteoporosis. I have taken calcium with vit D since I went through menopause over ten yrs ago. I have nit started on the Arimidex yet.
Does anyone have any information about this?
