Did you undergo PET scan before surgery? . What are the scans you people underwent?
-
I had CTs and bone scans before and after tx, my MO said I will have a CT every 6 month, bones scan and mammograms annually for the next 5 years

hi prahan-
So my original report said grade 2, but when I switched doctors, their report said grade 1. No one but me caught the discrepancy. When I asked about it, I found out something crazy- they don’t all use the same grading system!! The original biopsy place only went by the nuclear grade (?) I think it was. It boggles my mind how many times my reports changed, every time someone new looked at it! Reminds me that it’s all on a sliding scale and there’s are not clean, clear divisions.
I had an mri before surgery, that’s all.

I'm also grade 1. Had chemo, radiation and now hormone therapy. I did a lumpectomy. I did have a pet/ct scan because I had one lymph node involved. All came out fine. I'm 5 1/2 years out now and hope it stays that way. I am on femara and still see my oncologist every 6 months. I was 51 almost 52 when diagnosed.

I had bilateral grade 1 tumors. You can see my age, Oncotype, and treatment in my signature. I had a CT of the chest and abdomen at diagnosis because I have a lot of pain (autoimmune disease), and another CT of the chest about a year ago, same reason. Totally clear, all is well, see my MO once a year.

Prahan - please post your diagnosis and treatment plan in My Profile and make it public so we can see where you're coming from.

stage 1 grade 1 premenopausal, age 53. During work up had an MRI. Just had my second MRI as I am celebrating my 10th anniversary. Three years Tamoxifen and ovarian suppression. Five years letrozole.
Radiologist told me, last week, mammograms and ultrasounds every year and MRI every 18 months as I ease into the years when breast cancer risk increases due to age....and the fact that I was diagnosed “young.” Ha

Completed 1 year , with more ups and downs. Looking forward to go beyond this nightmare.

Diagnosed in March. Stage 1A. 54 years old. Lumpectomy was done April 6th. Start Tamoxifen next week. Will have radiation, not sure when it is starting, first appt with RO is next week.
Clarify: I had 2 tumors. One was grade 1 and one was grade 2.

Stage 1A,diagnosed in March. I’m 37 yo.

I am 36 when diagonised. 1 year completed

I am 32 years old. I was diagnosed with DCIS of right breast (stage 0) in feb. Had a lumpectomy and bilateral reconstruction. Surgical pathology found an area of invasive cancer within the DCIS, therefore advancing my stage to 1a. Went back a week later and had 4 lymph nodes removed and biopsied, all were negative. HER-, ER+/PR+.Oncotype was 11. No chemo necessary, I will start radiation next Monday, and will start tamoxifen soon.
Going through this post, I see there is others with similar diagnoses who have received chemo, which makes me question why I am not (although I prefer not to, obviously). Is this because of higher risk or reoccurrence?
-
Others will chime in but with your dx, whether or not to do chemo is usually driven by your Oncotype score.
-
I am also grade 1 -- I agree with the post above. This grading system is based on a pathologists opinion. I was orginally diagnosed as grade 3, but then I studied the pathology report and realized that 3+2+1 does NOT equal grade 3. He apologized for the 'embarrassing mistake' and corrected it to grade 2.
Meanwhile, I got a second opinion on my pathology, and that Stanford-trained pathologist documented it as grade 1. Oof.
Does anyone know what grade 1 means for overall outcomes?
-
Stacey I am grade 1 and did do chemo, but it was because of one positive lymph node grrrr. The fact I had LVI didn't help my situation either. Had all of my nodes been negative I would have only done surgery and radiation.

Hi, not a young lady but I'm stage I and have a question that may relate to age. I was diagnosed last July at age 68, stats below. Biopsy said grade 2 but lumpectomy pathology came back with grade 1 (a 1 on all 3 factors so the lowest level of grade 1). I understand these determinations are somewhat subjective and the biopsy sample is small but I don't see how they found grade 2 cells in the biopsy and apparently none whatsoever post surgery. But that's actually not my question, I digress 😋.
I have noticed from a lot of posts I've read that the Oncotype score and recurrence % don't seem to be consistent across all women. I've seen Onco 9 with 5% risk, Onco 9 with1% risk. Recently a poster said her Onco was 11, risk 8%. My Onco was also 11 but the risk reported was 3%. My understanding is the test analyzes the same tumor genes for everybody and does not take into account any pathology, so what gives with that? The only thing I can speculate is that age has some impact as the tests do break down the chemo recommendation for <50 vs. >50. Any ideas?

there is another thread started by annicemd for all of us who were diagnosed stage 1 grade 1 premenopausal.
Based on the landmark 2018 TailorX result and additional info from 2019, age and pathology results also contribute in the decision to do chemo.

hi. I read you on Tamoxifen. Have you had any skin issues with acne breakout or is it just me. Having terrible time. I going to schedule a appointment with my dermatologist. Thank
-
My biopsy also was grade 2 and 7 mm; the lab report after the lumpectomy showed grade 1 and 6 mm. I think that with the biopsy they take so few cells that the final result could go either way: a higher or lower grade once they are able to analyse the whole tumor.

Diagnosed just before turning 55. Lumpectomy (left side) overall grade 1, nuclear score 2, mitotic rate 1. with savi-port radiation. Her2 neg. ER/PR 90% positive, clear nodes, post-meno. On letrozole for 5 years.
