Afinitor and Aromasin

Has anyone had experience with these two drugs? I was just prescribed them and the side effects sound quite serious.

    Hi Charlotte,

Afinitor is alkways scary in the beginning but I was on it for 3 years with minimal to no side effects once we adjusted the dose. Work with your MO to find a dose that works for you. I was on 7.5 mg even though 10mg is recommended. Take a probiotic everyday. Thats what completely cut down mouth sores for me. If you have a P13K and FGFR mutation, this is one of the most effective treatments. The side effect profile is scary but there is high possibility you will not have most of them. I led a normal life in complete remission those 3 years. Hope you have the same if not better luck with this treatment.

    Hugs,

    Ann

Hi Charlotte! I'm in month two of A/A and doing okay. I would say I'm adjusting to the drug a bit still. SE's for me are largely fatigue and GI issues at the moment. Pop up to the search bar and type in Afinitor/Aromasin 2013 and you'll find a nice long discussion thread about it. I am taking probiotic each day and just be sure you do the dexamethasone rinse as directed to avoid mouth sores. As far as fatigue, it's there but I'm also still working part-time and can continue all my activities. So it's not holding me down much. I'm on 10mg Afinitor so far. Hope to see you on the Afinitor thread!
