I recently stopped at the end of year 3. The hot flashes are now worse and I wondered if anyone else had this experience

    veronicaanne:

My mother started having hotflashes during menopause in her late 40s and they never stopped. When she reached 60 they got worse and she began to sweat profusely. It turns out she had hyperthyroidism and a benign pituitary tumor. Once she was properly treated for the hyperthyroidism her hot flashes and sweating subsided.

Thank you all for your concern. I haven't tried any meds. In fact I stopped taking everything because of my symptoms. I do have thyroid nodules they say likely benign. Not a helpful statement in my mind but did have a fine needle biopsy that came back ok and labs normal. I've had the same thought about pituitary. I'll talk to my gp. I did have severe hot flashes for 10 years and then they stopped. And then I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the meds started it all up again. Not badly at first but the last few months have been terrible. So my onc took me off AI until January. Just to see if things would straighten out. They're not really hot flashes they feel like they're going to be hot flashes but then they just don't seem to materialize and I'm left just hurting all over and completely exhausted for hours afterward.

I just want to address Racy and say how devastated I am for you and all of you in Australia for the terrible wildfire season that you are going through. My thoughts are with you.
