Scar tissue

I had bc 11 1/2 years ago and still have side effects from surgery and radiation. I have LE, my breast has never softened and is always a little tender. My question is can scar tissue continue to grow and change all these years out? And what does it feel like? I have a band of tissue near my scar that I’m wondering about. I have a mammogram in January but I’m really hoping this is scar tissue and not cancer. My Dr says scar tissue can continue to grow and change over time. From my description of it she’s comfortable with me waiting until January to have it looked at. She doesn’t think it sounds highly suspicious but of course no one ever really knows til they get a look at it. Anyway I am just wondering if there are any long term “survivors” that can speak to this issue of scar tissue. Thanks
