Hi everyone,

I am starting chemo and will have my first A/C this week (of 4, then on to Taxol/Herceptin). Do you remember how you felt when you came home after that first one? And in the next few days? My treatment is Wednesday, so I took the rest of the week off, not knowing what to expect. Any thoughts? Nerves are getting to me a bit. Thanks for any thoughts - I appreciate it!

Bejeweled - there are active thread for people going through chemo where they share the process in real time. Usually there is a new one every month. I'm not sure if December has been started yet, but if you read through the November thread I'm sure most of your questions will be answered.

The other thread to check out is Tips for Chemo.

I'm heading into my final AC this week, cannot wait! I actually felt surprisingly OK my first round. My second, however, was another story. I think everyone reacts differently. Overall, my biggest symptom has been fatigue and an overall feeling of being severely hungover; you can easily combat that with naps! So far I have experienced:

    • Fever of over 100.3 and was hospitalized for two days for neutropenic fever -- my biggest tip: do not push yourself. I got a cold because I walked home from work in the rain. DUMB.
    • Mouth sores. I'm past R3 and this just started. Its only on my tongue though and eating or chewing has been very difficult, if not impossible.
    • Headaches and night sweats, etc... minor symptoms like this come and go

I would say, continue to be active, go on walks where you can, etc. But do not push yourself even on your best days. This was a lesson for me after a trip to the ER. I'm an active person (35 y/o runner), but it has been a struggle for me to stay put.

Best of luck! I think you will do fine... just be patient with yourself. We are here if you need anything!

    xx
