Hi-

I’m new here. I’m 46 and had a baseline mammogram at 36 for fibrocystic disease. At that time there was a small area of dense tissue on my l breast upper outer quadrant. Fast forward to 3 years ago, a circumscribed .8cm mass with regular borders was discovered and has been watched. I have been called back each mammo for this lately bc it has grown. This month the mass has doubled in size since last year, it’s 2cm now, and the borders are irregular and angular. I’m a nervous wreck my mom was just diagnosed w invasive ductal carcinoma a month ago, and also had a radial scar in her other breast that was removed. Prior to this we had no family history. Just had a us guided core needle biopsy yesterday. Anyone else w birads 4 fibroadenoma

    Hi Carnrob,

Did you get your results back from the biopsy? I know Fibroadenoma's are so worrisome. I am in the waiting process as well. Prayers it was all benign!

I just got the results this morning- it’s benign, they suspect it is a phyllodes tumor. I’m waiting to hear what the next steps are. The surgeon, pathologist and radiologist will have a conference on Monday and let me know what the course of treatment will be. I’ll post on Monday after I hear.

Thoughts and good vibes to you- it really sucks there isn’t a better way. I just spent the past 6 days in limbo waiting on these results, and then add getting called back prior to that and that’s more than 2 weeks of stress, anxiety and worry.

I had a birads 2 ultrasound in 2018 and as of 2 weeks ago new ultra sound says I have a birads 4. They have always been fibros for me but I am a nervous wreck. I had them removed in my 20s and in my late 30s and now at almost 46, ive had it with this stress. I told the surgeon that I'm done with this stress and dont want to deal with it anymore. I'll have surgery next week because 2 of mine are quite large 3cm+. The thing that concerns me is the fact that they have changed... 2 now with irregular borders.

Hang in there... Hope things go well for you.

Thank you. I actually went for a second opinion since my local hospital would not remove the 2cm phyllodes tumor. I’m having a lumpectomy w margins done this Thursday, going for the radioactive seed localization procedure tomorrow. I’m so relieved this is actually being removed. It’s been 3 years of callbacks and then watch and wait. I totally get the stress- I’ve had fibrocystic disease since I’m 13 years old. Best of luck with your surgery
