I had my exchange surgery 4 months ago and the cancer side is still red. It hasn't progressed and none of my doctors are concerned, but what could it be? Is it a reaction to the implant?

You said your docs aren't concerned - but what have they said might be causing the red skin? What are their recommendations?

Did you have radiation? Sometimes the skin stays 'darkened' for a year.

wc3- I had my exchange in March and my cancer side has a red patch that hasn’t gone away. It’s not warm or painful, so I don’t worry about it. My PS didn’t seem concerned. I guess that’s just the way it is for now...

    MinusTwo:

They didn't really say much aside from that they are not concerned. I didn't have radiation.

    Cpeachymom:

I don't have any sensation there so if it were painful I wouldn't know it.

    Cpeachymom:

I guess it's one of those wait and see things.
