Being HER2+, my MO strongly suggested neoadjuvant chemo to shrink the tumor. The surgeon then has a definitive pictures before & after chemo. I kind of thought that's the way most HER2+ cases are treated.

Sorry I can't help. I had TCHP before surgery - 6 treatments 3 weeks apart.

minustwo... that was where we were headed but my breasts are super dense with "innumerable enhancements and cysts" on the MRI.

I think this is an option because I had already decided on a double mastectomy. If I had chosen the lumpectomy this would not be a consideration. The oncologist thinks that it would be better to know for sure what is going on inside my ta-tas.

I am meeting with the surgeon on Thursday to get his opinion. This is all based in a recent trial that showed high 90% survival and no reoccurrance. I am in the process of researching the trial right now.

I had this treatment- surgery first then 12 weeks of weekly taxol and Herceptin followed by Herceptin every 3 weeks for the next 40 weeks. I’ve seen on this forum that it’s not uncommon but seems to be used with smaller tumors and node negative. My MO called it chemo light. The study backing it up had only 400 people but excellent results at the 7 year follow up

Look up and favorite the Weekly Taxol and Triple Positive threads. Lots of good information there.

I had lumpectomy and then the taxol/Herceptin every week for 12 weeks. Now I am getting Herceptin every three. My stats are below

    Hi Guys,

Has anyone had 6 or more months delay in receiving Herceptin?

Did they have progression because of the delay?

I've had one H injection with Taxol and I'm now sorting out drama with my medical insurance and it looks like I'm not winning and will only be able to carry on with the H injection in April next year.

For now I’m still carrying on with the week Taxol, prior to this I had 4 cycles of AC

I had a mastectomy, then taxol and herceptin, then herceptin. Only have one more herceptin to go, then many scans and blood tests and mammos. My onco says I am lucky...... But if there are ever any questions about the health of lefty, she will get cut off (sad, because she fed my babies well, but life is life).

    Faith123:

I had the herceptin and perjeta concurrently with chemotherapy, which I believe is the standard of care.

Do you have a nurse navigator? Mine helped me sort out some insurance stuff in the beginning.

    Rlmessy,

I had surgery 10/28, starting chemo 12/4 (AC for 4 rounds, then Taxol and Herception for 12 weeks, and then Herceptin alone). Radiation at some point as well.
