I have been rebounding (bouncing on an exercise trampoline) for the past month and I am amazed at the difference in how I feel!! I had some minor lymphedema in one arm and it has resolved; resting heart rate is lower; bp lower; energy level is improved; improved lung capacity. It stimulates the lymph system and gets lymph fluid moving and removing toxins. There is a host of health/fitness benefits and only 5 min/3x day will improve lymph function. I started slowly and have gradually increased to 30 min/2x day. It's fun with music....without music not so fun.....feels too much like exercise!!😜. It is also easy on joints, but is a great cardio workout. I encourage folks to try it.....particularly former runners who have too much joint pain to run.

I can't wait for my exercise trampoline to arrive! I will definitely let you know how it goes. I am prepared that it will be a slow start at first, but I am really looking forward to doing this, and I have NEVER been excited to start any exercise program before!

Could someone here explain how this works?

You bounce on an exercise trampoline called a rebounder. You don’t have to jump high like the trampolines from gym class. Rather, you bounce, trying to push down on the trampoline. There are some good YouTube videos that demonstrate how to properly rebound.

Yogatyme - I admire your persistence. I ordered a rebounder when I was first diagnosed with LE. It just didn't suit my style. After 6 months of no use, I gave it to a young mother who was trying to loose weight.

Minus Two. The rebounding has been really positive for me just as yoga was. However, my husband does not like either one. I have tried other types of exercise over the years and certainly found some were not my style, so get get where you and my DH are at with this! 😁

    Glad it's working for you.

l'm extremely happy with chair yoga & having great results. I even introduced a couple of older male neighbors to the class. After getting over his first reaction that it was "hippy dippy", one of the guys told me today his original perception was wrong. He feels so good after class he wished the class was 3x a week. I also do Silver Sneakers twice a week and in the summer I add water aerobics 3x a week. Oh and walk on a treadmill with I feel I've been slacking off.

Wow, Minus Two!! You do an amazing amount of exercise!! I’m very impressed! I’m going to add tai chi and line dancing to my regime. Both are offered by local senior center..... bonus, it’s free!! I went to yoga class faithfully 3 days/wk for 20 yrs but developed glaucoma so had to give it up. I miss it terribly. Keep up all that good activity!!

I really want to try tai chi. It's been recommended for balance since I have CIPN (chemo neuropathy). Unfortunately I haven't found a class close to me. Please do post how you like it.

I sure will. I took classes 15 yrs ago and liked it but it was interfering w my yoga class, so I didn’t do it long. I’m anxious to see how I like it now. We were in San Francisco a couple of years ago and I would watch from the hotel window a group of people doing tai chi in a park across the street. It was mesmerizing to watch!

Yogatime, do you bounce with your arms up? I have a rebounder and I would like to use it to prevent lymphedema. Thank you!

Euphorbia, yes, I rebounded with my arms overhead when I had lymphedema. I still do some overhead because the stretch feels good, but not as focused on it since lymphedema resolved.

Thanks, Yogatyme, for your answers. I guess rebounding is for getting the fluids moving? What a fun way to get that done.

YogaTyme, I got the exercise trampoline yesterday and so far I am happy wit it. I think it will be a really good fit for me. I saw some YouTube videos by Holly House, that were geared to lymphatic system, but would like to find a dvd or something for beginners that show exercises for health and improving lymphedema. Do you have any recommendations?

After seeing your initial post, I did some research and found that rebounding is highly recommended for lymphedema. I have truncal lymphedema that's recently spread to my legs. I was walking and working out, but it was making the lymphedema in my legs worse. I'm hoping the rebounding is as effective for me as it has been for you.

Thanks for the great info, Yogatyme.

    Trish

Mavericksmom, I am so glad that your initial rebounding has been good! If it feels like it’s a good fit, you will be surprised at how it “calls” you and it has only gotten more enjoyable for me. As far as DVD’s etc, I just watched some YouTube videos and did some reading. Music is probably the biggest factor for me and I have put together a playlist for rebounding.Happy bouncing!!! Let me know how it goes.

Trish, I hope it helps w your lymphedema. I was completely surprised at how much more it helped mine over everything else I tried. Good luck!! That stupid lymphedema is a pain!! Let us know how it’s working for you.

Beesie - exactly my question after she posted on another thread.

Looks like she & her posts have been wiped clean after your posts & mine on the Newbie thread.
