Doctors who have breast cancer themselves

Options

I would like to get in touch with other doctors who have had breast cancer themselves . I have found my journey and the reaction I have had has somewhat caught me by surprise and have discovered that I have some unique needs because of my medical knowledge and awareness. Just because I have medical knowledge does not mean , however, that I am any better prepared. I feel that reaching out to others to see if there is a need for a special peer support group may be helpful, not just for me.

    hi;

    I love this idea. I am also a physician and have had to grapple with working through my treatment, what (if anything) to tell my patients, etc. I do know there are Facebook groups of doctors with breast cancer, and I would have joined this if I were on Facebook. But I think it's a great idea to have such a group here.

    You are wise to start a peer support group so that your needs are sure to be met. We are all guilty of asking a friend/neighbor questions/advice about their professions without being mindful that they are “off the clock”. As a retired clinical social worker I am hesitant to attend local support groups for this very reason. Good luck in getting a group started.
