Contralateral Mastectomy for DCIS and Paget's

Just had a Rt Mastectomy last week for DCIS and found to also have Paget's. Unable to do immediate reconstruction since they had to remove most of the skin. I am contemplating have the other breast removed when I go back for reconstruction. Anyone who did not do both and if so thoughts? Other breast with microcalcifications and I had a biopsy about 10 years ago (benign) so always thought it would be that breast. No symptoms of anything prior so worried I will miss something. Of note, DCIS encompassed almost all of my rt breast - last mammo was 15 months prior. Genetic testing negative, pending hormone receptors status.

My mastectomy went extremely well. I'm 48 and very physically fit. So my thoughts are to do it with my nest surgery. Anyone regret doing both or wish they would have?

I did both in 2011, although it was supposedly "only" DCIS going in. I've always been glad. I've never been one to 'fuss', whether with make up or a prosthesis, so I wanted it done. Not to mention they did find issues in the other breast during surgery. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I just had one breast removed less than a year ago. I knew I had Paget’s (skin symptoms) going in, and DCIS was discovered later. Other breast had spot of benign ductal hyperplasia. Doctor said there was no need to do both - that felt ok with me. I’m pretty sure I can have the other removed at any point.

I’d think about what, physically, would work best for you.
