Very confused and heartbroken
Hi Everyone
My mom was diagnosed with ILC on 2012. My mom had double mastectomy the cancer has spread to her right ribs muscles as well, which was removed by thoracic surgeon at that time she was staged 3b. After a long treatment I meet my mom after 12 years before she came to visit me . she had pain in her hip and leg . She was slipped in the bathtub .Her MRI was clear . The orthopedic and neurologist in US said that it's normal to have pain in this age . She is 66 years old.
After 2 months the pain is still in there she can't walk I take her to the orthopedic in my city he ordered a bone scan. Now the bone scan is showing abnormal increased uptake of radionuclide in L5 vertebra and anterior parts of 4th and 5th ribs on right side.
The hotspot in her right side rib is may be due to surgery but what is in her vertebra.
The opinion is
Rib lesion ( Effect of surgery?/metastatic?) Involving above mentioned site.
Vertebral lesion (Arthritic?/Metastatic?) Involving L5.
Radiological correlation is suggested.
I need ur help does the mean her cancer is back.its killing me . Pls pray for my mom . And help me to understand this report

Pari143, I am so sorry you are so stressed for your mom. You did not say how old she is...although a lot of older people do get aches and pains, as you described the doctor's comment, sounded a bit flippant. I'm sorry your mom is in pain.
Since your mom has had a bone met before, there is no way to discount that it could be again, but this article may (I hope) give you some hope:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC49184...
I wish I believed in prayer, so in that case, I am sending good thoughts and hopeful that your mom's situation is not a repeat spread.
Please keep us posted and the best to you both.
