I keep meeting women affected by breast cancer everywhere.

It's insane how prevalent breast cancer is where I am.

This week alone, I've randomly met two survivors, the sister of a survivor, and one BRCA positive woman about to have a BMX.

I've also met three other women who were diagnosed under 40.

Me too. It’s a flipping epidemic. It’s so depressing. I was DX in 2011 and so far, so good but my sister lost her battle with BC this past August. All the hype and still so many women affected and sadly dying from this insidious disease.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. You're right. It is an epidemic.

Way too much hype regarding how many women are now surviving breast cancer and very little information given about increased prevalence. Also, the fact that breast cancer is incurable is rarely mentioned. Women die from breast cancer, it's a cruel, life changing and sometimes life-limiting disease, far removed from the fluffy pink sisterhood

I have been amazed at how many younger (under 50) women I've met with breast cancer during treatment, a lot of them were in their early 30s even. And we all have these aggressive cancers that require treatment after treatment. I think the highest ratio of younger women I've seen was in rads, all of us were having PMRT, mostly after ALND as well. Most of the older women coming through were having rads due to lumpectomy.

September was when I was really faced with the fact that I could have breast cancer. That's when I started noticing the amount of women in my area with chemo hair loss. And, those were just the ones who weren't wearing wigs. Once I got the confirmation that I did have it, and began telling a few people, I started hearing the stories of everyone's friends, family, co-workers... who have either gone through it, or is still going through it. It truly is everywhere.

    Dixie:

When I was having my last few long strands of hair trimmed at the beauty shop, there was another woman there who had also cold capped and was getting what was left of her hair trimmed as well.
