I'm 22 and a couple weeks ago I found a lump in my left breast and decided to see a woman's health doctor about it. I was very surprised when he felt it to and had me to get an ultrasound the next day. They found 2 masses in the same breast which they think are fibroadenomas. I just got a call today about a referral to a breast Specialist and don't have an appointment till November 11th. I've already got a pretty severe anxiety disorder and this waiting is just killing me. I've even so terrified and keep crying all of a sudden then feeling fine. I'm not sure how to cope with the wait. Every time I seem to forget about it, it starts hurting again and it all comes flooding back. I know it probably is Just fibroadenomas but I can't help but think the worst.

    Hi there, aa86471!

The waiting really is one of the hardest parts! Try to keep yourself busy until your appointment, and keep in mind that at your age, breast cancer would be very rare. It's great that your doctors are being proactive, and we know that getting an answer can give you some peace of mind!

aa... you've probably got some good news forthcoming but even if not, you'll benefit a lot from this forum. Be sure to come back and let us know how your appt with the breast specialist turns out. Come back for any reason even beforehand, and to share andask as many questions as you want. I wish you well!

I'm kind of a numbers gal so tend to go with the probabilities. This is very probably just what the doctor told you, right? While you wait for your appt, try to stay busy/distracted. Find something to binge-watch, get some exercise, go out with friends, figure out a great Halloween costume. Having the appt several weeks away also sounds like nobody's too concerned this will be bad news. Otherwise they'd probably be rushing you in for a biopsy.

Thank you to everyone who’s commented. I really appreciate all the reassurance. It is very likely just fibroadenomas since they were very oval shaped and defunded. They don’t really move much under my skin but the radiologist gave me a BioRad3 rating which is good, I suppose! I did find two more yesterday when o was feeling my breast. Is this something I should contact them about or just wait for my appointment since they are probably the same kind of lumps? They really only looked at the area I was originally concerned with so I’m unsure if it’s even worth mentioning during this waiting stage.

aa - You already have the appointment. I'd make a list of the questions you want to ask and put this on that list. Then quit feeling your breasts and try to do something distracting & fun.

The waiting is very hard! I had a lump that was declared a Fibroadenoma for years. After around 6, it really started bothering me and seemed to have grown. I made an appointment to ask for a referral to have it removed. Suddenly, it was a big deal and my doctor ordered a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. He really worried me with his change of opinion. (Which in hindsight I am thankful for and wish he’d been more proactive before after things I’ve read on this forum since then.)

it’s easier to say than do, but I wish I could have worried less until there was something to worry about. Good luck to you! I did get all my tests and a biopsy. It was benign as they all suspected, but the radiologist indicated it should be removed soon. I see a breast specialist on Wednesday to go over surgery options. Now I have anxiety over surgery.

I’m glad to hear your fibroadenoma was actually a fibroadenoma like they expected. I’ve been having alittle anxiety about possible surgery as well since they said if they do a biopsy, they are more so planning on doing an excisional biopsy just to be safe. I keep reading these post saying that they should be painless but I’ve actually been having a decent amount of on again off again pain with mine, did you experience this as well?

I also haven’t touched my breast at all since I found the other lump and have started making a list to bring up during my appointment. They did put me on a cancellation list Incase someone does cancel so I can get in sooner which is nice

aa86471- mine is quite painful with hormonal changes. More so now that I’ve had the biopsy. When I’m ovulating or having my period it hurts frequently. It also can be sensitive to being bumped.

I saw the breast surgeon today. I guess she wants to do an exicisional biopsy now to check for phyllodes. My anxiety is now back up, of course. I wish I wasn’t like this. I wish I could just go with the “oh rarely are they phyllodes and even if it is then 3/4 of those aren’t malignant”, but that’s just not how I work.

I hope all goes well for you! I have my surgery scheduled for 11/15. If it turns out it is a phyllodes, she will go back in and remove more tissue at a later date. Fingers crossed that’s not necessary.

I completely understand you’re anxiety. I’m just horrible at waiting. I hope all goes well with your surgery and that they are just fibroadenomas like they originally thought. I’m alittle nervous mine are phyllodes as well since one of mine seems to be bigger than it was a couple weeks ago and I haven’t been on my period of a week. I’ve been getting so irritated with the aching and throbbing near my lumps on and off. Just seems like a constant reminder that there’s something I should be worried about. But you’re right, phyllodes are so rare so the numbers are definitely in our favor! Let us know how your surgery goes!

My fiancé also found a little tiny ball right under my armpit that’s been a little concerning. They moved my appointment up to the 4th of November since I’ve been having new symptoms
