Recent Results of Mammogram

Let me first say that I had breast cancer in 2005. Lumpectomy and radiation was the treatment. After surgery, I developed an abscess in the breast that was operated on. I had to have it cleaned out and then packing placed. The wound created had to heal from the inside out because it would not heal any other way. Needless to say, I have very dense scar tissue in that breast. Every time I go for a mammogram, it is mentioned.

I just recently had my yearly mammogram done and have been recalled for additional testing on that breast. This will be the second time in 14 years that I have been called back. The mammogram reported asymmetry with distortion in left breast. Not sure what this mean but I take it that it is not good.

Since they note this scarring in my left breast on every mammogram, I constantly worry they are missing something. No one ever recommends any further testing than additional sonogram or mammograms. Its a very unsettling situation. I hold my breath every year when I go for my mammogram in hopes they don't find anything.

I am so sorry! Waiting and not knowing is really difficult. Especially as you worry you are starting the journey all over again.

Do you know when your next appointments are and the next steps?

I am here hanging out while I wait for my next steps. I have been through one surgery for a radial scar...but am now having additional screenings because of being high risk. I just had a MRI and am scheduled next week for an ultrasound.

Hello again! Had my additional testing done on Wednesday of this week and they determined that everything was ok for now. They did additional mammograms and an ultrasound. Nothing was found on either one. Just the terrible scar tissue I have from previous breast cancer surgery. So I am clear for this year. I thank the Lord every time I am cleared for the year.
