Hi, this might not work for everyone, but I thought I should share. If you are having knee pain as a SE of the AI meds, it might work for you too! I am on Femara which for maybe four months caused me no problems whatsoever, but then I developed some fairly bad knee pain. I used to take fish oil, a few years ago, pre-BC. The fish oil made me feel better overall and whenever I was on them my cholesterol numbers looked much better too because I had higher levels of "good" cholesterol. Anyway, I went back on them and was amazed to have the knee pain disappear. I'm taking two small capsules per day of molecularly distilled (free of mercury, free of fishy aftertaste) fish oil, 1000 mg total (for the two pills), of which 680 mg is Omega -3s and the rest is EPA/DHA/other. The ones I happen to be taking now are Nordic Naturals "ultimate Omega" but there are other brands probably just as good. I don't know why all my pain was concentrated in my knees, but it was bad, and it made walking uncomfortable. I continued walking anyway, but it is so much nicer now to be out walking and PAIN FREE!

I hope this works for others. I also hope it continues working for me for a long time. I was quite strongly ER+ in the final analysis, and I had ILC for which AIs are supposed to be especially effective for minimizing risk of recurrence. I'm quite determined to continue with the femara, and so happy to again be managing the medication without uncomfortable side effects.

Hannah, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm going to look for Nordic Naturals.

I've posted on a few threads that I've gone from Ms. Zero Pills a Day to my AI plus a billion supplements. Thanks to several posts I ordered myself some fish oil, although have only been on it for two days. I'm not particularly having any joint pain--it just seems like the Omega-3s are in fact pretty important, and my husband is not a big fan of fish so we rarely eat it. Hannah it's good to hear from you--I feel like I'm popping these pills with no way to determine whether or not they're doing anything beneficial.
