I know that the norm is 6 weeks and back to regular life for most. I’ve been trying to live my life regularly. I find that I’m getting my strength back.

I had my surgery on July 31st. I had a dmx, with 4 lymphnodes removed on right side. I’m finding I still have soreness. Most of it is on the right where the cancer had been (chemo did it’s job on residual in situ was left at surgery and removed. 4 negative lymphnodes removed. 2 had been biopsied and positive results at diagnosis.

My port was on the right as well and was removed about a month ago. I’m feeling the soreness in the upper chest and the underarms. Not intense pain or anything, but soreness. Both underarms are puffy. But, I almost think I feel something under the right because the puffiness is more firm, if that makes sense.

I hope this is normal. I hope the surgeon didn’t miss anything.

He used a clear substance prior to surgery to test the sentinel nodes, not the blue dye I’ve been seeing others mention.

I had radiation mapping/simulation about a week ago and I’ve been terrified since that they were gonna find something the surgeon missed.

I hope I’m just using things too much and it’s not something else. My right is my dominant side. I’ve been cooking more - chopping and such.

Dawny74, I had DMX on 8/13 and still have soreness and some swelling under right armpit where lymph nodes were removed. I also have a hard place in that armpit which alarmed me, but I keep stretching and massaging and it seems to be helping. I still have some minor burning and the occasional lightening bolt pains. There is a place on the right side that feels heavy but that too is improving. I’m thinking all of this is normal.....now understanding I will have a “new normal”. I am also right dominant and just starting to do more physical things like cooking. I forgot and lifted a cast iron skillet w my right arm and had pain afterwards but it didn’t last too long. I suspect this may be the same for you. If it’s worrying you a lot you might just want your BS to take a quick look. Better to have an “unnecessary appt” than to keep worrying. Best to you
