Anyone have signet ring cells? HER2 positive but LOW Ki-67?

I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma with signet-ring features in my right and left breasts. From my online reading, it seems that signet ring cells are more commonly found with GI cancers. My MO said the signet ring cells are not important and that the HER2 status is what counts. Still, does anyone else have signet ring cells? What was your experience? Does anyone know whether signet ring cells are more likely with MBC?

I'm also interested to know if anyone else is HER2+ (meaning that the cancer is aggressive), but a low (5%) Ki-67 which would indicate that the cancer was slow growing. It seems like my BC is an oxymoron.

Since diagnosis, I developed a bone lesion, so I'm guessing that my cancer is probably more in line with the aggressive side of things than the Ki-67 would have predicted.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

You may want to post this on the invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) forum. LCIS is not considered cancer; I haven't heard of anyone with LCIS (and nothing worse such as DCIS or invasive) have their HER2 or Ki-67 status measured. (I may be Very wrong, and I certainly haven't read most LCIS posts on this forum.)

I certainly don't know much at ALL about invasive breast cancer, but in a brief Pubmed search, I did find this Very Old study (from 1995) that from a quite small group (99 carcinomas), more signet cells had a worse prognostic outcome.

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7802556

I imagine lots is not known, and don't know if this paper is an anomaly.

    Best wishes.

Thanks for the info, leaf. I came across the same study in my research. I didn’t realize that I posted in the wrong forum group. I’ll try re-posting.
