Hello All! I had my 3rd excisional biopsy (2 within a year on right breast) on August 5th. I have noticed since my surgery I am having severe pain in my right breast and armpit prior to and during my period. The pain is extreme and I have a pretty high tolerance. No lymph nodes were taken and I did not have this experience after the other 2 surgeries. Is this a common side effect? If so how long until it lessens. I understand normal breast fullness and discomfort during pms but this is something completely different.

I came here to ask about the same pain near my lumpectomy scar. My surgery was 11 months ago. This pain feels different. My breast is slightly swollen as well. Due to get my period in 4 days - I hope it is just that...

I have no answers for you both - just a similar question! I had a lumpectomy well over a year ago, and my surgery zone still feels tender to the touch and aches often. No correlation to periods, as I'm post-menopausal. I've always had tender breasts (fibrocystic with a lot of tenderness on my chest wall) but this is different. In the first few months, I wrote it off as normal recovery, and for several months after that, I thought the pain was gradually lessening, but it's actually increased again, and at this point, I have to think it might be permanent.
I'm just wondering how common this is, so I decided to jump in.
