Bleeding from nipple
I'm a 45 year old woman...history...breast reduction 10years ago, tons of breast cancer on paternal side and other cancer (bladder and skin on maternal side.
Last mammogram and ultrasound 2 years ago with biopsy below areola = benign fibrocystic changes
So end of August I noticed a stain on left side of my shirt I sleep in. I brushed it off....couple days later, lots of stains on my night shirt...and a few more nights like that, went to the nurse practitioner....only true symptom I had was breast pressure/pain - she did a breast exam...nipple looks fine...so she diagnosed as mastitis and gave a prescription...
Continued bleeding through 10 days of antibiotics...went back to nurse practitioner and showed pictures of previous stains and of night before with picture of stream of blood and short video, following day I got call for Mammogram for October 17th!
Symptoms are pain, bleeding and sometimes a bit of itching
So now I wait.....

Here is a short post on nipple discharge, top of the page: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83/topics/857426?page=1#post_5015399
Blood from the nipple is usually from a benign papilloma in a duct. It is always pursued and removed do to a small malignant potential.
They are not usually visible on mammo, some are seen on US but both need to be done it case it isn't from a papilloma. Some recommend an MRI but they can be very small and not be seen for that reason.
The gold standard exam for a papilloma is a ductogram.
