Titanium clip placed in a breast mass that was found in a duct.
Hi everyone,
I had a diagnostic mammogram last week as I have polycystic breast tissue. I was told that they found something and from there an ultrasound. That was when the Radiologist came in and told me that I had a mass in a duct (right breast). He said that it is 9mm. He said that it was not a polycystic change, nor a cyst. He said it possibly could be a papilloma and that would explain my spontaneous clear discharge from that breast (occasionally happens) however he kept going back to the margins and borders. Everything was a blur, I was in shock. At that time, I didn't ask questions. He said that it "warranted" a breast biopsy. I agreed.
Yesterday, I had the biopsy. They took three samples. One from the middle of the mass, the duct, and tissue beneath it. I watched everything on the monitor. He than placed a titanium clip in the center of the mass.
The weird thing is the mass became smaller to the right. Stayed the same on the left, but there was something definitely in the middle still, where he placed the clip. Almost like it was a cyst with something in the middle...IDK
He than commented that it got smaller, which it did to the right. After the procedure, one could tell he was in a hurry or didn't have time to answer questions, he put his had on my shoulder and said that he thinks it's just a cyst...
The radiologist who did the procedure was a differ radiologist who evaluated my mammo and US. I have to wait until Mon or Tues to get the results from my Primary Doctor.
Trying to stay busy so I don't worry. I do know that this "mass" or "cyst" in my duct is 3cm from my nipple/9mm in size. That is about it.
Can anyone relate?
Thanks in advance. I'll update as everything unfolds for me.
Big Hugs to everyone still waiting!

Joy, I had almost exactly the same situation. Mine was a 7mm micropapillary carcinoma but radiologist was pretty sure it was fibroadenoma ( in fact that was found in left breast) when he did the biopsy. However he was clear that until the pathology report was completed we wouldn’t know. So, your mass could be either of these, a cyst or something else completely. The good news is that it is pretty small suggesting early detection if it is malignant. Keep breathing.....hoping for the best for you.

Thanks Yogatyme,
I'm trying to stay positive. I'm grateful that I found this website/forum. It seems like it's been helpful for a lot of people as we can relate in one way or another. I know it will definitely be helpful for me too. Even just reading other posts/replies has been helpful.
I made a mistake in my original post. The mass/cyst is actually 3cm from my nipple not 3mm. Not sure if that makes a difference or not...
Anyways, thanks again Yogatyme. It means a lot that you took the time to reach out to me.
