I was wondering if anyone after surgery had different pathology results from initial biopsy? Example from estrogen positive to estrogen negative?

I did not have changes in the receptors, but what was thought to be ADH was actually ILC.

Eigna--I suppose that's possible, but my guess is if one sample has tested as ER+, that would be the diagnosis and basis of treatment, even if there is an area that's ER-.

    HI,

That was my worries .. but I just got my report, they did not retest the biomarker, just used the one in biopsy report. I am in BC Canada.

But my other situation is getting worse. grade 2 from grade 1, 21mm from 8 mm.

I went from HR- to weakly HR+. Unfortunately I had already had the port taken out.

I went from er+/pr+ to er+/pr-. My er+ percentage went up as well from 40 to 60.

thank you for your replies. And how long did you wait to get the final pathology results after surgery? My surgery is next week oct 10th and my appointment to get my pathology results is November 26. Isn’t it too long? More than 6 weeks!!!

speaking from standpoint of patient in the US - yes, too long. I waited about 5d for lumpectomy path and 12d for bmx + snb path, but I think most women get them in about a week. Some drs like to give them in person. Just tell them straight up you want yours over the phone as soon as they're available. I've seen some women say they've gotten stonewalled on getting their results over phone and they've showed up to the office to demand them - love it. It's our medical info. They cant refuse...

I was able to get my appointment moved up beginning of November instead of end of November.

My wife's surgical pathology was different from the biopsy results. Her PR on biopsy was 97% (strong) but on surgical it was only 5% (weak). Her ER was slightly lower, 97% (strong) v. 90% (moderate) between the two.
