Super sensitive tissue after surgery

I had bilateral mastectomies with expanders under the muscle (tumor was close to muscle, I was paranoid about putting the implant in front of the muscle) and R sentinel node biopsy 8 weeks ago. Some nerve damage from lymph nodes bro v removed (armpit and back of my upper arm) but my skin both sides is still super sensitive making pretty much any bra either intolerable or not supportive enough. I’ve tried a gazillion bras and types of bra—no luck. If I wear a bra with fabric and no seams that my skin can tolerate I have discomfort and heaviness on both sides from lack of support and weight of expanders (I only filled to 250cc and not doing more with this!). OTC pain relievers don’t help. Topical amitriptyline doesn’t seem to help. Had been very slowly improving after surgery and initial healing but in last 2 weeks improvement seems to have stalled. Has anyone had this problem and if so and you’ve had your second stage surgery, is it better once the expanders are out? Thanks

We are about the same in terms of surgery dates. I dont have expanders but I have skin sensitivity as well and bras are uncomfortable bc of it. Maybe someone w expanders will respond w their experience w tenderness w expanders. In the meantime, I hope this is temporary for both of us.

Chiming in to say that there was definitely a period of time where I had extreme skin sensitivity too. I remember even a sheet or anything touching my skin was awful. It was during the time of my expanders. I don't remember how long but the feeling did finally resolve itself. Take care and I wish you both a speedy recovery!

After my BMX I felt like I had a sun burn for a while.

It took a few weeks to settle down.

WC3, that was exactly how I describe my tenderness.....like a sunburn.
