petite1: Every sale is good. Glad you got a few. If I had more time, I think I'd do more Ebay. It was supposed to be sunny this afternoon but it's been overcast all day. I think it's in the mid - high 60s but my house is cooler. I never get direct sunlight.
I'm waiting on the trick or treaters. I've got about 30 bags of candy and 60 beanie babies to get rid of.
-
Kamboka, Did you have any trick or treaters? If not, get rid of those treats. We didn't have any, but we went out and only a few older ones were wandering the streets when we got home. I sure wish all these purses would go. I am doing 30% off on Vera Bradley. Purses have taken over the family room and the spare room. I have not even listed them all. I have pulled out all I am doing for Christmas gifts and one I wanted to keep. 9 things to ship today.
-
I had 26 bags prepared for the kiddies but only 12 showed up. Now, I'm stuck with the remaining. Now sure why there was such a low number of kids. Last year, I had 8 or 9 and COVID was more of a worry. I'm thinking we are ruining our kids desire to be outdoors and do things. They just want to stay in the house on the computer. (That sounds like me in my old age!)
-
Have you tried Pirateship for postage? I haven't yet since most of my items can go by USPS but I hear a lot of people get their items through Pirateship when it weighs a lot and goes to somewhere in the US. If you're on ebay and you sell internationally too, you can use ebay's GSP and all you have to do is send it to Kentucky and ebay sends it overseas. If something happens to it when they ship it out, they are supposed to take the hit for the item.
My sales are disappointing. I listed 10 video games just on Saturday and nothing. I've still been only selling about 2 items a week. We will see. I've been so busy that I don't have much time to list every day.
-
Good morning, Ladies. Weather is nice today and I am meeting one of my BFF's for lunch at a riverside place. It should be a good day. Another purse sold. The Vera Bradley purses are not moving, so I am having a 30% off sale.
-
Hope you enjoyed your lunch date. The weather was okay today with the sun coming out late. At least it was pleasant temperature. We are expecting rain both Friday and Saturday and in the 60s. My sister was supposed to come on Saturday and we'd go fishing but now they cancelled after the forecast.
-
Kamboka, Yes, we glad a nice lunch. We both had salad. The weather is nice today, but a front is suppose to move in with a lot of rain. All of the purses are now listed. I am not into QVC, but people that are should scooping these up. Most have not been used. The poor lady from the estate I bought was only 67. She died in 2020, so it must have taken a year for probate. She did not have kids, just sisters. They dumped everything lightning fast. The house sold in 2 days. You find out a lot about people from buying their estates. The biggest thing, what you care about, your heirs don't. LOL
-
Many times when I'm doing my estate sales, I wonder about the lives of the people that I'm buying their things. Some folks are just moving, others are going to assisted living and others have died. I always wonder what items they treasured and why. I hope they are happy that we appreciate their things. I ordered my yard sale signs and stickers yesterday. I hope the weather will be warm that weekend of December so people will come out. The worse part of a yard sale is putting the stuff back up. The good thing is that my mom is here and she loves to have yard sales. She's the expert. This is only my second one, ever.
We've been getting coastal flood warning for tomorrow. It's going to rain all day Friday and Saturday. I might not estate sale too far from home if it's raining heavy. At least, there are two sales I want to go to in St. Augustine on Sunday.
-
Kamboka, We are under coastal flooding as well. It has been raining for hours. It is light rain, but dark and nasty.
-
The temperature is dropping like a rock. Brrr. Hope I don't have to turn on the heater. It is 57 and still raining.
-
petite1: Same here. Not heavy rain but dark and drizzly. the wind is really high. I've had on some layers as I don't want to start using the heat so early in the season. I know when my mom comes, I'll have to heat up a lot since she is always cold. I might venutre out tomorrow for two estate sales if it's not rainy heavy.
-
This is finally heating up nicely with some sun. I drove down to St Augustine beaches to hit two estate sales. It was well worth the drive. I had about 10 sacks of stuff with 50% prices. I love it when I hit a houses like this. My 'warehouse' exercise room is running over again. I've got to start selling.
-
I'm glad you finally got some sun. I only sold 2 things in the past week despite listing more. I've heard online from quite a number of sellers that things are slooooww but they're weren't sure why since it's Q4 and usually that's the busiest time of the year. Frustrating. I wonder if people are worried about the economy. The gas prices here is about $1.10/gallon higher than they were last year. That could hurt people's spending if they're paying so much more a month for gas.
-
The purses are slowly selling. The ones that I have listed for over a week went on sale. I think I sold 6. Next week I will have another sale. The lot has been paid for and I am in profit mode.
-
I found a really nice Whiting Davis vintage clutch at an estate sale this weekend. I have some pretty ones. I'm waiting to see if my auction man will sell them, if not, I might list on Ebay.
Gas was 1.95 last December. Now, it's 3.31. I got a BJ's credit card a month ago just so I could get the discount. It's normally 10c off but with the card, you can get another 10c off. Every little bit helps. Now, I just have to remember to pay off the card before any charges.
-
I have a small Vera Bradley purse for sale on ebay. Just listed it a week or so ago.
Kamboka - $1.95?!! Wow! It's been many years since our gas was that cheap. A year ago, my kids were complaining that they had to pay $2.49/gallon and we told them that wasn't bad compared to what we had to pay before. Now it's $3.59 here and may go up again because it's been that price for over a week and the holidays are coming.
-
Gas was $3.29 last I bought. I don't drive much any more. The WH wants to close another pipeline. No one will be driving much. I love the old Whiting & Davis purses. They sell well. I have a load of Vera Bradley purses listed on ebay. I think I sold 2. I sold 6 of the others this weekend. At least this lot has paid for itself and I am making a profit. Husband goes to the cardiologist today. It was 45 this morning and my joints hurt, but could be Arimidex.
-
Are you all old enough to remember the gas lines during the Carter days? I remember my girlfriend buying a house and I think her interest rate was 12% or something double digits.
I don't think I know what a Vera Bradley purse looks like. I'll have to Google. Now, I have teddy bears, dolls and bronze statues. I can't even walk around in my exercise/warehouse room.
The weather is better this week but dips back to the 60s this weekend. My sister is supposed to come and we were going fishing.
My brother and I decided that we'd have Christmas in FL before mom goes back to TN. We are calling it a "Thrifty Gifty Green Christmas". All the gifts have to be recycled. I'm way ahead since I've go so much stuff.
-
Petite1 - I hope your husband's cardiologist appointment went well. We are having a warm week here in the 60s. Last week we had some lows in the 20s. Brr! It's too early for that! I also have a Like New Vera Bradley tote to list on ebay too. Personally, I don't have any VB purses but I do have some totes and love them! So sturdy and good quality.
Kamboka - Yes, I have a vague memory of the Carter days and the gas situation. Either that or just remember my parents talking about it. I would've been a child. I definitely do remember interest rates being 10% or more. I talk about that with my kids. I love the Thrifty Gifty Green Christmas! That's awesome! I guess you are done with your Christmas shopping already! LOL.
-
mocame: I use the same black purse until it falls apart. I usually get one from my sister and she always buys good quality bags. I also have to have x number of compartments for all my things and I need a shoulder strap. Nowadays, they don't make too many purses with the long shoulder strap.
petite1: how did your husband's appointment go?
-
Good morning. DH appointment went well. No medication changes and ultra sound scheduled for the first of the year. I am older so Carter days are well remembered. My first husband owned a gas station.
Do the stores by you all have empty shelves? My husband enjoys bourbon on occasion, Jim Beam white label. While I was out running errands he wanted me to pick up a bottle. I went to 3 stores and could not find it. Sometimes I have to go to multiple stores to find the cat food that the cats likes. It is frustrating. I hate grocery shopping. No way I will buy any meat. It's crazy.
Vera Bradley purses are mostly cotton prints. I sold one just a few minutes ago. The print was called "Hope Garden." I like the name.
-
I went to primary doc today to see if we could try something for my foot neuropathy. I'll try Lyrica and see if that helps. Gabapentin does nothing for me.
As much as I love food, I don't love going to the grocery store. I think it started a few years ago when it hurt my back to walk in the store and then have to lift the items over and over again. I think I was in the store a few weeks ago and the shelves were well stocked as much as I noticed. I was thinking that maybe because we are in a port city, that supplies are still getting in. It will probably change because I don't think this will get better any time soon.
I was asked by the HOA President to run for a seat on the board. I told him I was too busy with work--which I am--but not sure if I want to have that headache. He is not working and loves it. He's sort of like a good 'busy body'.
I did Google Vera Bradley purses and realized I had seen them but didn't know their name. Glad you are selling more. I would think that more people would be turning to Ebay and other sites to get gifts since there will be fewer sales and merchandise at brick and mortars this year.
-
Some years ago I was renting a condo and the HOA asked me to run for president. I laughed. I don't think she realized I wasn't the owner. I had a no pay on ebay. It is a long time customer. I feel like something happened to her. She has been a customer for over 10 years. She buys on ebay and sells on etsy. I have sent a lot of messages and no response.
-
I hope your customer is okay. It's like when my handyman hasn't answered his phone or email. I think he might have died since he was really sick last year. I miss him as he was a good man and I wish his wife would just tell folks what has happened..
-
Goood morning. I am heading out to the Great American Yard sale. Hoping to get some good junk.
-
petite1: I'm so jealous. My sister and I hit two estate sales and two thrift stores. Not a bad day as I got some more clothes and realized I had a $10 reward from the store.
-
Petite! - I just heard about that yard sale! I've also heard about the 127 yard sale that runs through a bunch of states down south. So jealous because we don't have anything like that here. I setup my account to require immediate payment. I don't know if that hurts me or not but I like to ship as soon as someone pays so this works for me. I have another Vera Bradley small tote to list. It is in brand new condition and was one of the first things I purchased at a thrift store to resell. I don't know why I'm procrastinating in listing it. I had some toys that I was procrastinating listing. They were with the lot of three toys that I sold for $70. Well, I put these into 3 different listings and am hoping to get around $70 combined for all of those too!
So, I finally had sales 4 days in a row! Yay! One of those items was the camera that was returned because I think the lady used the wrong battery so it didn't stay powered on. This time it sold within 4 days after I listed it.
-
Ladies, I did get some good pieces of costume jewelry. I listed it on Sunday and already have bids.
-
Both of you have good seller news. That's wonderful. I've got some toys so hope I can get a good price. I wish I could list something and get a bidding war going. The few things I sold, I think only got one bid.
Do either of you use Poshmark? I sold a few things with them but payment doesn't happen until the person gets the item and confirms. I think Poshmark will pay you if the person doesn't.
-
Petite! - Sounds like you are having a lot of sales! That's great! I had one yesterday after I accepted a Best Offer. I'm not complaining.
Kamboka - I do not sell on Poshmark but I am considering selling there and Mercari. I don't have much luck selling on FB Marketplace but I haven't shipped through them either. I've been procrastinating selling on the other platforms because I don't have time right now to learn their rules, shipping, and policies. There are online (paid) tools that a lot of sellers use that will take your ebay listings and post them right to other platforms like Poshmark and Mercari. That way you only have to enter information one time or maybe just tweek some information, instead of having to enter information 2 or 3 times.
