Worried about lump, i would appreciate advice
3 years ago I discovered a lump in my left breast about the size of a small marble. My life was upside down(the amount of sadness and loss is too much too share) and i couldn't even think about spending any money on myself. The lump is now about the size of golf ball..it doesnt move, it feels dense and my breast feels heavy and sore. My right breast is not sore and has no lumps. I never have had lumps in my breast until now. I can't afford to over react, I have 3 children and love them more them anything... please if anyone has experienced this I would appreciate advice.

hi leelee75....sorry you are going through this but welcome to BCO!
You really do need to get that evaluated. They will want to do imaging so be ready for that. Doing this is not overreacting, it's what you need to do for your kids.
Do you have a GYN you can call in the morning?
-
I haven't been to a GYN in 15 years... so I have alot to figure out. I don't know what I can do at this point, but it felt better sharing this... I havent told anybody until now. I dont think my family could handle this right now.
Thank so much you for your advice.. I truly appreciate it.

leelee this is an emergency until proved otherwise. For the sake of your kids get it evaluated this week.
-
Leelee75, do you have someone among your family, friends, colleagues who could ask for help figuiring things out? More often than not there are people who have undergone breast cancer treatments before and have a lot of compassion/advice to share. I am not saying that this is cancer what you have, but they will know the path you need to go down now to find out if it is.
Also, every larger hospital will have a thing called "nurse navigator". Maybe you can find one in your area.

Leelee75, Your primary doctor can also order a mammogram. If you are near a Planned Parenthood they can do a breast exam and then refer you to a provider of a low cost or no cost mammogram. Run, don't walk to this appointment. Good luck to you.

LeeLee, I agree with every one here, please get yourself evaluated, the sooner the better

Leelee75:
Please get it checked quickly. As flashlight pointed out, your primary can order the tests if you are uncomfortable seeing an ob/gyn.

I want to thank those of you who responded, and I am sorry for not replying sooner. This is harder for me to deal with than I thought. So I haven't taken any action, I guess I am just hopeful it is ok. I can't figure out how to tell anyone in my life... I just don't know how to go about this. I know I must seem weak, but I am always the one who just handles things so this is too much right now. I hope I can stay in this forum and learn.

Leelee75, call the breast care helpline to speak with a trained specialist or oncology social worker at 1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877-465-6636) or email at helpline@komen.org. with your concerns. Don't think about it just do it. They are not going to judge you and the people in your life will not know. Do this for you because you are important. No one needs to know what is going on. The stress of not knowing is just too much and not healthy.
-
Leelee75, I hope you realize that just about everyone who has responded to you has been in the position of having to make that first call. Do it. Beyond that, time to trot out the best advice I got here: You don't have to be brave. You just have to show up.
And remember, when it's time to share info with your family, it's a lot easier to say "I have a problem but it's treatable" than "I put something off for too long so I'm going to die soon."
