Scar tissue?

Hey everyone ,

Just wondering what scar tissue can feel like . I had a bilateral mx in feb and near the beginning of the incision (closest to the chest), just above the scar is a rolly Polly flat bitta tissue. I don’t want to call it a lump per se. it’s totally soft and basically flat. Just distinguishable from other tissue .

I’m not so much worried about a local recurrence . My surgery was successful. Drs said clear margins (but report said 0.2-0.3 mm-i thought clear was 2mm), Pet in dec and April clear, ct of chest, abdomen, and pelvis in August clear (do chest cts look at the soft tissue?) - had radiation until end of May, and on Ais..I’m wondering if this is scar tissue , or something else. I’m more curious than anything. I have not had recon.

Has anyone experienced a general lumpiness after mastectomy with no recon ?

Hey, how are you doing? Don't you just love this Journey? No! Anyway: I did not have reconstruction after my mastectomy. I was not a good candidate. As for "Scar Tissue," yep, just what does it feel like, look like, etc.? All I can tell you is that supposedly I have "scar tissue" under my skin at the mastectomy site. My "scar tissue" is a hard LUMP. And now a lumpier lump. Not to be confused with fibrosis which I do have following radiation 10 years ago. This latest lump actually formed in the last year or so and is now bigger than it was earlier this year when I mentioned it to my new Primary Care Doc. So ONCE AGAIN, I have to make an appt to have it checked out. One cannot be too careful. It is rare, but "scar tissue" can become cancerous. And sometimes, what docs think is scar tissue or something else non-cancerous, actually turns out to be cancer. Get your "thing" looked at. One cannot be too safe or too proactive. Hang in there.
