Please help! Question about drain color

Hi All,

I had surgery last week Wednesday, so I'm about 9 days post op with only two drains on the left side where I had my mastectomy. The volume has been going down day by day and it has been turning the straw color expected, however, I noticed just yesterday the fluid was a blood red color again. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal? I called my PS and just waiting for a call back now...

Mine stayed a diluted red color for about 2 weeks. They never really went clear and then back to red though. I did notice a lot more clots and material as the color lightened before removal. I would definitely call your surgeon's office if it's a bright red.

I had 4, and am now down to two. The Color has fluctuated from bright red, to orange red, to yellowish, and then one has gone a bit redder (more of a diluted red) in the last couple of days. The only constant is that they are going down. Smart to call your ps
