What pouches are best to buy?
Hi, my bilateral masectomy should be in mid October and I'm confused what kind of pouch to buy to put the drainage in. I see on Amazon drainage pouches for 24 dollars but some people say they use regular fanny pouches for 10 dollars. I'm not really worried about the price difference I just want to know what works best for you all?

I used a button-up scrub vest with pockets, but if I had to do it again, I'd just find a fanny pack that was the right size.

Thank you ksusan that is helpful to know!

I purchased a black waitress apron on Amazon with large deep pockets. Plenty of room for 4 drains, iPhone, glasses, etc. Can be repurposed for gardening, hobbies, etc.

Also, and more importantly, I purchased on Amazon an apron for use in the shower made of netting material. It ties around the waist and the pouch will fit 4 drains and zips closed. Very best thing I purchased, by far. No safetypinning drain lines or wearing them around your neck. Dries quickly between showers.

Hi. I used a fanny pack/belly bag for my drains. It worked quite well. For the shower, I clothes-pinned the drains to a hanger and hung it on the grab-bar.

A friend got me a nail apron from Lowe’s and it worked great. When I showered I put the drains in a mesh bag from a necklace I have and hung the bag on a thin scarf that I tied around my waist. The scarf and bag dried quickly so ready for the next shower.

I have had drains multiple times and I’ve done different things at different times. I have used large safety pins and used the plastic loop on the drain and pinned it to the side seam of a cotton tank top. I have worn a very lightweight zip hoodie inside out and put the drains in the pocket. I have showered with the drains strung on a clean shoelace and worn like a necklace, and have also taken a long piece of plastic wrap and rolled it into a snake and used it like the shoelace - which was nice because it was disposable. I was also sent home from one surgery with a Home Depot nail apron (as mentioned above) they stocked them in post-op.

I got this and it has a separate drain holder for the shower. Loved them!! Sorry I couldn't paste a link. Amazon:

You women have amazing ideas!! I just pinned the drains to a piece of IV tubing the nurse gave me in the shower. I wore it like a necklace. At first I pinned my drains to my clothing but quickly learned that a fanny pack was much easier.

I only had two drains so I used a Brobe post surgical JP drain shower belt.

Hi. I got the same ones as ON target and they worked great. wore 24/7. the mesh pouches or comes with were fine for the shower. the black apron is a great idea also. I wore these pouches under my shorts but sometimes you could see peeking through pink as the bottom.

I found a zip up cotton sweat shirt at WalMart that has inside pockets. Bought it is two colors and wore every day. When I showered, I clipped the drain tabs with an ID badge lanyard worn around my neck
-
suqu31 I also bought waitress aprons (2 pack) from Amazon. My surgeon was adamant about the drains hanging low. When I wore black pants I'm pretty sure nobody even noticed them.
I also used an ID lanyard when showering
