Large incision from excision biopsy...
Hi ladies,
Had my excision biopsy Friday the 13th. Won't get my results until next weekend. I was completely unprepared not only for the location, but the size of my incision. My needle biopsy was done from the underside of my breast so I assumed the excision would be as well. Nope. It's on the top of my breast and probably 4 inches across? Had a good cry about that yesterday.
Just wanted to put that out there. Didn't know if others had similar experiences.

I’m sorry you weren’t consulted about that! My BS discussed this thoroughly with me. I just had my surgery this morning so I can’t see it but she chose to go around the areola for better cosmetic outcome.

My incision for my excisional biopsy was also long and on the top side..
I have a handy hint in case you have large breasts.
It would hurt to shower as the weight of my breast would pull down on the incision and cause pain. I got around that problem by showering with my bra on.
To dry off, my husband needed to support the breast while I dried off and put on another bra. (I teased him that this was probably not the scenario in his teenage fantasies about holding a breast in his hand).

I also was surprised about the size of my incision. I'm not too concerned with scars but I could swear she said it would be a smallish (like less than 1") incision. It ended up being 2-1/2" on the side of my breast. I should encourage you to say, it's now really faint and fine and has shrunk to about 1-3/4 to 2".
I've cried plenty through this. The process sucks - diagnosing, testing, waiting, worrying. It's ok. No matter what the dx, let yourself have that cry. Once we've gone through a scare or a dx we live differently and we usually have the physical scars to remind us.
Wishing you the very best

Thank you so much for replying everyone.
I never even thought to ask where they would cut me. I just assumed that because they did the needle biopsy from the underside that they would do that with the excision, but I don't think that's where the tissue was.
I think I'll be okay with it over time. Right now just trying to get through this week of waiting for my results. That's currently my biggest challenge.
