MRI results and upcoming biopsy

Hello everyone, new to the forum and first post

Had a mammo/ultrasound, found two lesions in right breast last month. Then I had MRI w/contrast. Not sure what these results mean and the medical assistant just said they are going by the radiologists recommendations, which I totally understand.

Right Breast:
Abnormal segmental clumped nonmass-like enhancement is observed of the anterior, mid and posterior upper outer quadrant of the right breast. No abnormal mass or nonmass-like enhancement of the remaining three quadrants of the right breast. The T2-weighted series shows no areas of abnormal signal intensity. No evidence for skin thickening or nipple retraction.

So I'm going to assume this could be nothing or something, not trying to stress myself, I'm kinda a glass is half full type of gal but I am a bit nervous. My MRI guided biopsy is scheduled Oct 9th....sooooo far away ugh, but I am on the cancellation list so hoping I can get in sooner

Any insight what do expect with the biopsy and normally how long do results take to get back, this process has been quite long, just the time between all these tests. Thanks everyone

The waiting is indeed torture!! I got biopsy results one week later. It was a very long week and I tried to distract myself w reading & binge watching Netflix. Hang in there and keep checking in on this forum. It is an emotional lifesaver.

Sorry you are having to wait so long for your biopsy! I had a very similar MRI result to yours, just heterogenous enhancement pattern, not clumped. I also am having bloody nipple discharge from that breast for 6 months. My initial biopsy was done with an US, it looked like they probably missed the target and the radiologist suggested an excisional biopsy. I had to wait two months to get an appointment with a new surgeon. I just had that appointment today and he was amazing, made me feel so much better. I am currently scheduled for surgery on October 3rd for a ductal excision and likely an excisional biopsy of other nearby tissues. He is just waiting to have a second radiologist look at the MRI images to confirm what they need to remove.

When I first got my MRI results and had the biopsy I was so stressed. But as time has gone on it has become easier to live with the unknown. Reading these boards has helped me a lot with the waiting. I am hoping you are able to get definitive information from the biopsy when it gets done. But no matter what the results, the waiting and wondering does get easier with time. The one thing I would highly recommend is if you think you are not being listened to or dismissed, do some research and find a new doctor. At first I did not listen to my instincts and was seeing a surgeon who was very dismissive and was not planning on following up on the concerning imaging. The surgeon even made fun of the radiologists concern to my face. Now that I have switched to a new office I am amazed at the difference. Having a care team you feel you can trust really helps eliminate a bunch of stress.

Hope you get in for the biopsy early and get positive, definitive results!

Thank you Yogatyme and Carissa. Yes the waiting is no fun. Been doing things with family trying to keep my mind busy. Keeping positive the best I can
