I had core biopsy for a lump 5 days ago and I am still waiting for the results. I think perhaps the lump is now smaller? can a lump break down or break apart after a biopsy? It is close to my chestwall/ribs and my ribs are sore and my breasts feel full and achy (haven't breastfed for 10 years).

If the lump was a complex cyst, which would include some fluid, then I would imagine that it could get smaller from the biopsy.

Or it could be that your breast tissue is swollen and the lump simply feels smaller.

    Good luck with the results.

Well, they removed part of the lump. So maybe that makes it feel different?

Thanks for your reply. It is definately not a cyst or absess which is why they did a core biopsy instead of a FNA. I've decided this morning it is not really smaller just more oval than round like it was.
