“Suspicious” tissue and exercise after biopsy

I tried to find answers but with all the posts it was a bit overwhelming trying to find something similar to what I am going through. I had my biopsy Thursday and bled a lot. I am very bruised and my breast is immensely heavy. I am wearing sports bras and was told to leave the tape on the incision for 5 days.

I have been walking and doing low impact workouts but do not know when I can lift weights and run. I asked the nurse and she did. It give me a straight answer. She just said “I really want to see this heal okay”.

Also they said I have a radial scar which has to be removed but that they saw “suspicious” tissue around it and the surgeon wants an MRI before my consult I asked “do I have cancer or don’t I” and her reply was “it could be”

I am scared and my family is scared and I do not know what I do or don’t have I hope there are others who have been through this

After 4 mammograms, one ultrasound and a very painful biopsy I know this is just the beginning- I know I have a surgery coming up but then what?

Sorry for all the thoughts but it helps to list it all here!

OK for the biopsy, are you using ice? My medical folks had me use ice and it helped, that plus a good bra that held things very still indeed.

I'm a runner, so I get your strong need to run right now. Thing is, you need to let your body, specifically that biopsied breast, tell you when it's good. For me, even with a solid compression bra, no bruising and minimal swelling, I didn't run that first week.

After my lumpectomy--again, no bruising, and not much swelling--I walked two days after surgery and ran five days later. But that was OK with MY body. I also had to really pay attention to my heart rate, it wanted to spike a lot even though I'm in great shape. So I had to dial back and keep things slow.

You're in one of the hardest parts of treatment--you know enough to be nervous, but you don't yet have a full diagnosis or treatment plan. That's a tough spot, truly. But better to have your surgeon get an MRI and make sure what you guys are dealing with, right?

Thank you edj3! I used ice for the first 3 days. I was told not to use ibuprofen but now that it has been 5 days I thought it hopefully is okay. How long do you anticipate before I can use weights and do any upper body workouts?

Supermomsm, sorry for what you are going through. Good to consult your doctor about exercise once you've healed. Getting the "okay" from them is the safest.

Please keep us posted as to what they say. The waiting is the worst.
