FROM THE ROAD'S END - A Christian Perspective
Greetings to those who have found your way here...
I am very similar to you... Diagnosed with MBC DEC17... Joined BCO shortly thereafter... Diagnosed with severe liver progression JUL19... Started daily Facebook blog posts shortly thereafter... Since not everyone does Facebook... I am now... bringing those posts here... Those most likely to benefit from them... are here... among my mets sisters and brothers...
Purpose of these posts... despite this horrible disease... despite my terminal prognosis... I am determined to look for... and find... beauty in our world... become inspired by this beauty... and figure some things out... before I transition to my next life... in Heaven...
It is my sincerest hope... in sharing these posts... I will help someone else... in some way... some day...
Full disclosure... upfront... I am telling a story... from my perspective... almost all these posts come from my Christian perspective... if you do not wish to read such a perspective... I understand... these posts may not be for you...
Title... comes from where I live... my home... on a beautiful hill... built into the forest... two roads intersect... and lead to nowhere... many of these writings... come from my ponderings... at this spectacular location... literally located at the Road's End... and writing from my own Road's End in this world... at least it makes sense to me...
Photographs... while I am only a good amateur... they are all mine... I love finding... beautiful... interesting things to photograph... I love taking them... if I post any photo I have not personally taken... I give full photo credit to the appropriate photographer...
For those of you... who choose to read any of these posts... I hope they will help you... some perspective... some strength... some little something... to help you deal with this disease... better... ease the emotional pain... the emotional burden... this is my sincerest wish...
Warmest Regards,
Gumdoctor

Thank you for starting this thread on BCO as I am not on Facebook. You are finding beauty during these times when it is just plain hard.
We will go on this journey together.

One of many amazing things in life...Contrast...
Pink/green...happy/sad...sick/well...busy/bored...unsettled/content...
With so many contrasts...in our every day world...we take many for granted...many not even noticed...
What one contrast can you find to enjoy...
On this spectacular Saturday morning?

Those things we cannot change...what to do...
As much as I wanted these vincas to look at me, they would not. The choice was between this view...knowing it was not their best...or...lose out on these beauties completely.
I chose to accept what I could not change...and embrace the results...
On this very grey Monday morning...may you accept just one thing you cannot change...then embrace whatever beauty and freedom is borne out of Acceptance...

And what about family...hmmm...
This spectacular blackberry cluster...lovingly tended by my Divine Gift Husband...reminds me of family...
Several unique members make up the amazing... strong whole... each at a different stage in life...some take center stage...others reside comfortably protected...yet all support each other...
Then there's that one...the missing one... right in the middle...
What happens when one member is no longer here... hmmm...
Nature answers the question... each family member will go on to mature... live out their own lives in the sun... and be as happy as we can possibly imagine...
On this calm... quiet... Tuesday morning... rest easy... they will be just fine when the time comes...

From the middle of the storm...
Whenever possible... my pilot Daddy avoided flying in the storm... it can destroy... mame... even kill... precious people and things we love...
But the storm is yet another beyond-our-control thing... it cannot always be avoided...
If we calmly consider the storm we are in... that very one we could not avoid... we realize tremendous good can result... cleansing... nourishing... resetting life's rhythm... slowing us down... giving us that brief moment to... breathe deeply... think deeply...
On this beautifully rainy Wednesday morning... may you experience the invisible good... coming from the very middle of the storm... may you look beyond... to even more greatness... after the storm passes...

You just never know what is waiting for you…in the very next moment…
One day…the Damsel in Distress wondered… how will she survive… this impossible life Storm... With every twist and turn… the Storm did not stop… raging… growing… engulfing… stealing her life away…
Then… her Prince Charming swept her off her feet… took her to a magical place… full of beauty and wonder… to forget the Storm… for just a moment… and together… they discovered this impossibly beautiful Damselfly...
Even in the middle of life's raging storms… something so unbelievable… so amazing… so inexplicable... can show up… to remind you… you just never know… what is about to happen…
They call that… H O P E…
On this amazing Thursday... may you find the beautiful surprises awaiting you… to restore your Hope…

When one door closes…another opens…
There are doors…and then there are...DOORS…all shapes…sizes…colors…materials… patterns…but all have the same purpose…access the adjoining space…
As the door to this life…closes…there is but one more door…to one more space...that matters…the door to eternal life…in Heaven…with God…and all those already there…
God has the key to all doors…and only He holds the special key…to this very special final door…
On this gorgeous, sun-drenched Friday morning…be determined to know the One who IS the key…to open that final door…to enter the glorious eternal life...awaiting you…
"I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…". - John 10:9
