Why not abraxane rather than taxol?

A question - if active ingredient is the same and just a diligent is different why would not first choice of treatment be abraxane given lower incidence of side effects due to a friendlier diluent?

My understanding is the reasoning would not be to keep abraxane for further lines of treatment since active ingredient is the same so if taxol failed there would be no point using abraxane. I am before starting treatment ( still, 2 months after that CT scan) and pondering my options.

could be cost is the reason. It’s more expensive from what I’ve heard.

yes seen that one. In another study it was other way round. With one being clearly more poisonous would not it make sense to go for it..

Absolutely the cost. I had to try and have severe adverse reactions to taxotere and taxol before insurance would pay for abraxane. I think human protein in the delivery method is a big cost driver.
