Newly dx with DCIS, 41 years/3 children. Just received my biopsy results, can you help me understand them? I am meeting breast surgeon on Friday. Thank you!

-Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)

-Nuclear grade 2, cribriform type, with associated necrosis and microcalcifications.

-Largest focus of DCIS measures 4 mm (0.4 cm); 10% of submitted tissue.

ER 100% STRONG

PR 40% MODERNATE-STRONG

    Click here to understand hormone receptor status. A cancer is called estrogen-receptor-positive (or ER+) if it has receptors for estrogen. This suggests that the cancer cells, like normal breast cells, may receive signals from estrogen that could promote their growth. The cancer is progesterone-receptor-positive (PR+) if it has progesterone receptors. Again, this means that the cancer cells may receive signals from progesterone that could promote their growth.
