I wasn't provided a bra after lumpectomy either. My surgery was about 10 days after my app't with the breast surgeon. The most difficult part of the surgery was waking up and being sick from the anesthesia and pain medication, and my back and neck aggravated. So stayed an extended time in the recovery room and got a hotel in town as I live about 2 hours away. I only took Tylenol after leaving the hospital. A few days later, I developed seromas in my arm pit that were later drained many times. At the gym about 10 days later.

My recovery from the lumpectomy went well - no real pain or nausea afterward. My surgery was on a Thursday morning and I was home by 1 pm. I was given some pain meds, but did not use them, just an occasional Tylenol for the first couple of days. They gave me an industrial strength surgical bra I had to wear for the first 24-48 hours, then front close sports bras after that. Just be aware of how much you are using your arm on the surgical side and sleep on your back for a while. I'm a side sleeper and made body pillow barricades to prevent rolling over. I know this is scary, but it's very doable. Sending good thoughts your way.

I still don’t have my appointment for my lumpectomy. So tired of waiting.

I first did lumpectomy and then re-excision after that before ended up where I am now with mastectomy. After both lumpectomy and re-excision I worse my same bra as normal and they gave me a "cold pack" to put inside my bra to ease swelling. I had surgery in the afternoon both times and then went home to bed and back to work next morning. If I woke up at night I would get my cold pack out of the freezer and put in there and it helped a lot.

I did not want to drive or exert myself on that side until I was healed up and it took about a week. Just a heads up on that on.

    Best of luck to you.
