Ultrasound before mammo=Delay

So frustrated. After increasing pain in my armpit for over a week, it was self-exam time ... and I found a lump on the outside of my breast on Wednesday night. Small and hard like a marble. Called the breast surgeon and spoke to his nurse, who put in an order for an ultrasound, but not for a mammo.

Had the ultrasound today and there's definitely something there, but because there's been nothing on this side before, so there are no prior studies to look at. The radiologist came in and palpated, and she felt it, too. She said she didn't understand why there was no mammo ordered. I said I didn't know either, but now I'm kicking myself for not requesting both. I asked if I should wait until my scheduled October date for my mammo, and she said "No, you need to do a diagnostic mammo on just the right breast next week."

And of course the surgeon's office is closed on Fridays.

So now I not only have to wait to *have* the mammo, but I have to wait to even get the damn thing ordered. GAAAAH.
