I'm 41, I had my second annual screening mammogram last week, a "questioned developing asymmetry" sent me on for a diagnostic mammo this week. The screening developing asymmetry was seen only on MLO. Diagnostic images confirmed the asymmetry was not because of skin folding on the screening mammo. At the diagnostic appointment I was by myself and nervous and didn't get a lot of detail about whether they were able to find it on cc too, but I think so, and also unsure if they found an US correlate. Both the mammo tech, US tech and radiologist seemed very concerned until they found out I had lost weight since last year's mammo (less than 10 lbs) Radiologist recommended rescan in 6 months. If they are relying heavily on the weight loss about waiting instead of going forward with a biopsy now, that has me concerned! I’m hoping djmammo to give input- in your opinion is it ok for me to request a biopsy for peace of mind? Others too!I haven't seen the official report but will ask ask some clarifying questions once I do. But in the meantime...ugh!
