hormone therapy while waiting for BMX?

Hi everyone
I'm wondering if anyone was given hormone therapy started while waiting for their surgery (whatever choice...). I'm puzzled as to why they don't start people on hormonal therapy the second of diagnosis for an invasive cancer - given all the waiting, etc.
If I choose a BMX, I may have to wait a few weeks and I have ILC. I am really worried about spread, growth, etc. during this time and want to minimize that and the worry. Any info?
