hey y'all,

i am a 20 year old girl and i noticed red spots on my left breast yesterday. first I noticed a pimple in the morning, which i tried to pop, then it turned red and doubled in size, which i wasn't too concerned about, but now there are several red patches on the side of my left breast. no itching, just red spots. they kind of feel thick.

my right breast has small red spots too, but not as big as on the other breast.

however, i am a little concerned because i googled breast rashes and all of the pages state IBC as a possible cause or mastitis. i've never breastfed a baby or been pregnant, so i don't even know if i can get mastitis. i don't have a family history of breast cancer but i am still scared. i am also a bit of a hypochondriac, which makes the whole situation worse

i wanted to ask: is IBC even a possibility at my age? could there be other reasons for breast rashes? and when would be an appropriate time to see a doctor? i was going to wait a week and then make an appointment if the rash is still there, which hopefully it isn't.

    Hi lennon,

We're sorry you find yourself here and worrying. We can tell you that at such a young age, it would be very rare to be diagnosed with any type of breast cancer, especially IBC, which is rare in and of itself. It's more likely this is a skin irritation issue. Bring this to the attention of your doctor, and perhaps he/she can refer you to a dermatologist. And in the meantime, stay off of Dr. Google!
