10 days post op mastectomy

For those that don't know me. I had a L mastectomy with sentinel node bx for DCIS. With nipple sparing direct to implant on Aug2. I also had a lumpectomy with implant on the R for atypical hyperplasia at the same time. I feel as if I won the lotto. All pathology came back good. Negative node , no other lurking cancers.

Doing pretty well for 10 days post I think. Stopped the pain meds at day six. Had drains removed at day 7 ( putting out about 8cc each). Just sore and tight, but Tylenol seems to handle that.

I do have a question for you post op ladies. Drains have been out 4 days. I still have a little weepage. At the end of the day a 4x4 will have an eraser spot of clear thin light yellow drainage. And then again same thing in the AM after sleeping. No smell, redness or fever. They didn't steri strip or anything when they pulled them out. Just wondering if anybody else had this, is it normal and how long did it last?

How all the August warriors are doing well post op and gearing up to move on with this preop. This site, and my new friends have been such a comfort. Glad I found you. It has made a scary journey so much more doable.

hummm... this is concerning . No one had drainage from their drain site after removal? I see my PC on Thursday. Was just hoping to here from others for peace of mind.

Looks like our August warriors are doing great YAY !!

I’d ask the surgeon about it, but as long as there’s no sign of infection I don’t think that small amount is an issue. The fluid will take the path of least resistance, and if there’s still a small opening, that’s where it will go. I would ask the surgeon about the wound still being open at this stage.

I had BMX on Aug 13 and drains out 21/2 weeks later. I had some seepage as well but it resolved in a few days. Nurse told me to expect it for at least 72 hrs.

I didn't have drainage, but my drains were in for two weeks.

Congrats on how great you are doing!!

18 days post surgery. It hurts to back up the car and sleeping is ok unless I have to move or turn. I am using a mountain of pillows which helps. Overall, feeling much better with each day
