is erythema of the breast always mean cancer or IBC? I’m so nervous I have a mammo tomorrow (diagnostic).... I also have noticeable hair follicles in the area that pink. I guess I wouldn’t say red. This is all I can think of is cancer because of these symtoms.

hi there please ask them for a MRI as well. Do you have any mass as well. Please get it checked by a specialist to rule out IBC as it spreads very fast. Mammogram won’t show much but the MRI will be more helpful. Ask them for a punch biopsy as well. Get it ruled out

as in a mass, like a lump? I do not have any underarm swollen nodes as what my primary dr told me. She did say there was thickening in that area but it is basically the same as the other breast AND the thickening on the effected breast has been there for months I know that but not sure if it’s always been like that but I know for awhile there was thickening and wayyyy before the redness...I was told it could be cellulitis, Vasculitis among many other deem issues as well. My grandmother had IBC. She died of a hear attack though. :

If there is no mass then please push your doctor for an MRI. Mri can catch skin thickness and I wish you don’t have IBC. But please get it checked

no skin thickness is not a mass but skin thickness can be because of IBC. Mammogram won’t catch it but MRI will. Any kind of skin thickness should be checked. IBC does not necessarily have a lump it happens in the skin. The redness can be because of other reasons too. Just get it checked to be saf

I totally understand what you are going through. Ask them for an MRI and skin punch biopsy.
