I’ve been having lumps on both breasts for some time - the one on the left for the past 17 years and the one on the right, I only found out through routine check 3 years ago.

Recently, my mom has been disgnosed with breast cancer. Tomorrow I have my thorough check again and has been worried sick for the past weeks, to the point that I couldnt sleep at night.

Has any of you had experiences like mine where the lump you’ve had for quite some time turned to breast cancer.

Appreciate all your feedback

A lump that you've had for 17 years won't be cancer - it would have grown and spread by now. A lump you've had for 3 years, most likely not.

Have you had these lumps checked out in the past, with a mammogram, ultrasound and/or biopsy?

If so, what were the lumps thought to be? Cysts? Fibroadenomas? Those are two common benign lumps that are usually left in the breast because they are harmless and won't turn into cancer.

confused girl: Beesie is wise and I agree with what she is saying.

Tomorrow more than likely you will have a manual exam and also a mammogram and possibly a ultrasound too if they were to find anything. This is all just guessing because I am not sure what you are having done tomorrow. This is what happened to me tho when I found a lump. Try to not stress too much....I know that is easier said than done. We all understand that. I try to keep myself busy with either watching a movie or working on a hobby like gardening while I am waiting for test results or prior to a follow up cancer dr appt. It does help it seems to do the things I love....it keeps my mind off worry a bit at least. Please keep us posted on how your dr appt goes tomorrow.

Sending a hug yr way! We are here to support you.

    Thanks Beesie and Jons!

I just had my appointment. I had ultrasound since I am just 33 and doctor reconfirmed that what I got was fibroadenoma and little cyst. She recommended having it checked every 6 months as routine.
