Melissa: That is good to know. I don't know why my gyn was concerned when it was 23. They don't like the mural nodules and thick septations on my cyst. So I am not sure what to think about all this! Yes I think you told me about your CA 125 number being 1000. I am thankful my number is lower than 35. I am just confused because it is jumping around. But the uptick in numbers is what is confusing to me. Maybe other stuff is throwing it off?

I had CA125, CEA and CA 19-9 run frequently for five years. All of them always jumped around like that and my NCI gyn oncs were not at all concerned, even when occasionally one might be a point or two over. I asked the same questions you are asking and they said normal is normal. Problems are usually indicated by much bigger jumps with steady rise.

    From Mayo Clinic:

A CA 125 test isn't accurate enough to use for ovarian cancer screening in general because many noncancerous conditions can increase the CA 125 level.

Many different conditions can cause an increase in CA 125, including normal conditions, such as menstruation, and noncancerous conditions, such as uterine fibroids. Certain cancers may also cause an increased level of CA 125, including ovarian, endometrial, peritoneal and fallopian tube cancers.

Yeah.....I have a new gyn oncologist now (in same office as my original gyn onco) and I knew right away that she would be a better doctor for me! So I asked her if she could follow me. She said sure that would be fine. She said if I had seen her in Jan she would have suggested surgery. But because my cyst hasn't really grown it is ok to watch it. My ca125 is still in normal range but is up to 28.5 I believe. I asked her if we could just follow this every three months doing another ca125 and a ultrasound. She said yes. So I am happy with that. My next ultrasound and ca125 is in November. As long as everything stays steady I think we will continue to watch this. I really don't want to take out my ovary if it doesn't have to come out.

Thanks for sharing the above quote from the mayo clinic. I am really not cycling anymore. My last cycle was in April and previous to that was the previous August. So I don't think I am cycling at all maybe anymore. That might be why this stuff is happening?? Or maybe it is contributing?

So not sure....but the ultrasound should show anything changing I would think.....if it does change then of course I will need surgery probably. But as of now all seems to be in a holding pattern.
