Hair Growth After Chemo
Hi All: I’m six weeks post chemo and although I’m 61 and have colored my natural dark hair to cover the gray for the last 20 years, I’m finding the hair growing in is white. Will it stay white or gradually go dark, silver or gray?
I’m ready to go natural but not sure about looking like Mrs. Claus. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

That's a good question. Eager to hear what others say.

I'm 5 weeks out of chemo. I did not shave my head, but had my husband cut it very short after most of it fell out. The only hair that remained was ~ white. I had dark hair with some white/gray before. No signs of any dark hair growing in yet.

I'm all about the hair. Like losing my hair was worse than losing my boobs. I obsessed when it was growing back and still do... hair is one of our greatest accessories and I'm so happy for your new growth.
Here's how it went for me. Light brown it started growing in.. almost a dirty blonde at your stage. Then at about 2 months a really pretty light brown. Then it got super ugly 3 to 4 months and started curling with more grey and pigment turned very dark. When I colored at around 5 1/2 months I had more dark pigment and streaks of grey. This is a photo at 5-1/2months!
If you decide to color your hair, be prepared it may repel the color. Kind of common after chemo!
Best to you!

The only change to my hair was temporary. It was very curly, when it grew out and then gradually got back to normal. The color never changed. I have naturally grey hair with dark undertones.
I loved the curls and the softness of my hair when it came in!:)

I had 4 a/c and 4 taxol and was finished on July 9th. I now have soft grey/white stuff growing. It is probably not even 1/4 inch yet. I am wondering how long this stuff gets before something more normal starts to grow in.
I am sure it differs for all of us but just looking for some hope!

This is my 1 year and 7 month progression of hair growth with 3 cuts in between... because it was so thick and wild. Yes there is much hope and hair
after chemo,cancer, treatment and reconstruction!

I’m about 8 weeks out from my last chemo (TCHP) and I’ve started to get some hair growing in. Mostly white at this point but thankful it’s coming in finally!

Hi!
I am about 8 weeks from my last Chemo AC and Taxol (with test drug). I also just started getting hair growing in....mostly white but some dark. I colored my hair, too so the white hair is a bit different but just so glad to get hair!!!

Today is 4 weeks since last chemo. No evidence of hair growing in yet.

Don't worry!! I swear, I had given up hope and my hair literally appeared overnight ...or maybe a day or two

thanks, phlorada. I haven't given up hope yet, but I am getting impatient!
