Allergan implants

I had a double mastectomy May 2018 for DCIS. No chemo or radiation or homes as I’m ER PR negative. I developed an infection June 2018 on left side that was treated surgical and with IV antibiotics. In January 2019 one of the implants flipped so had to surgically move it back in place. My first MRI since diagnosis was all good. Then ... my left breast felt increasingly hard. I developed capsular contracture on that breast. Yesterday I had surgery to remove scar tissue and replace implant. Now my question ...in looking at discharge papers I saw that this implant is Allergan ... the ones that can cause ALCL. It also states that capsular contracture could be from the Allergan type. The description of my implant is exactly those taken off the market - except I don’t know if mine is textured. And that’s the one recalled. I’m worried about contracting ALCL. Has anyone had any dialogue with their doctor about this ?! Should I ask for a different implant. The right might be a match to theft so they both could be Allergan to. I’m going to call my surgeon this morning. But I’m sure they’ll tell me it’s ok. But is it ? Any thoughts on the recall or similar experience is appreciated. Joanne

If the model number starts with T then it is textured. If it begins with S then it is smooth.

There is already a thread about Health Concerns with Textured Implants ..you can search to find that discussion.

Thank you. The number on my implant info sheet starts with SN. So I will assume that it is not Textured. I plan to call the DR office today. It still concerns me.... unless the studies show that the texture has relevance to ALCL. What makes the textured susceptible to cancer and not the smooth. ?! I will read what others have experienced. I appreciate your expedient response.

still...check with your PS...the S vs. T is for the Inspiria Round line of Allegens and a few others...the 410s use a different coding scheme, I think. Here in bc.org they posted an article that lists every model number. You might want to check that...
