Hi everyone,

This forum has been really helpful and supportive :) June 12 I had a major duct excision resulting in an ADH/hemorrhagic necrosis diagnosis. Healing was going really well and the swelling was almost gone within a month. About a week ago the whole nipple area started to invert and rest of the tissue really started to swell again and is quite tender (no heat/redness) - the breast actually is really starting to look like a bloated doughnut :P. I saw my PCP for something unrelated and had her take a look, she said it was quite firm and swollen/fluid filled and suggested I apply a topical antibiotic cream if I notice any redness develop. Is it normal for it to start swelling again this long after surgery? Has anyone else had sudden inversion/swelling post duct excision? Also confused by my PCP's instructions and wondering if I should call my BS office...

Thanks for any insight!

Call your surgeon. Those are the kinds of signs they often tell you to look for after a procedure. None of what you described sounds like the normal healing process after any sort of surgical procedure.

Call the BS office and get in to see them. You don't want an infection to go untreated. BS overrides PCP. PCP is not trained in diseases of the breast.

I am going through a similar issue right now. I had only mild tenderness after my surgery and as soon as the swelling went down....The pain is just unreal. I have more pain now than I did before surgery..I hope you get in and get answers asap !
