Anyone knows or offered Goldilocks surgery?
did you have Goldilocks for both breast? What you think about it? What is the difference between it and nipple and skin spared mastectomy? Are you still happy with reconstruction? I am offered to have that because I do not like have another surgery for reconstruction and do not like implants. However, Some ladies here had negative comments on how they look
How long it take to recoup after Goldilocks?
There are need drains for all cases or just some of them?
Are the hand mobile enough to take shower just a few days after the surgery?
What you cannot do in the 1 st week after surgery

I had never heard of this before and just looked it up. I would not have been a candidate but it sounds interesting!

Wc- thanks for your reply. You said you could not be candidate because if your bread size or because tumour position in your breast? The Goldilocks sounds interesting but surprisingly no many people discussed this or opt for it. Perhaps because it is suitable for large breasted ladies

I’d be interested to know where you are and what dr offered this
I’m in Seattle and had Goldilocks in 2016. My dr told me itwas the newest, best thing. I ended up with cute little bumps that were completely absorbed over the next 6 months and now I’m flat
Apparently this happened to so many people that my dr no longer recommends it. I’m surprised your dr does

margun,
I have not had the Goldilocks procedure. As you can see from comments on bco, quite a number who have had it done, end up with very small breasts and/or find that their body reabsorbes the tissue. Despite initial hopes that it would be a good reconstruction option, it never seems to have fulfilled that promise.

hi Lucky umber- I live in Canada and my choices were lumpectomy, whit what I was not confortable as I am concerned about recurrence or mustectomy without construction because first I do not like to have implants in my body and also it will be 2 stage surgery. Of cours I did not know that with time I can end up flat us you did but it probably ca not be worst than mx without reconstruction? If we are unhappy with long term result, will there be a possibility to resort to reconstruction afterwards? Are you considering one?

Margun:
From my understanding, the procedure removes the glandular tissue and leaves the fat but my breasts were almost entirely glandular tissue and had very little fat.

Hi Margun,
I never considered reconstruction for the same reasons you gave - I didn’t want a second surgery and I didn’t want fake implants. Turns out I’m happy being flat. I have prosthetics that I rarely wear. If I want bumps I wear a little bralet with foam pads. The best thing I did was get nipple tattoos. Now when I look in the mirror everything looks pretty normal, flatter but not bad.
Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery. Pamper yourself. You deserve it.

Luckynumber- did you have drains after Goldilocks? How long was the pain and limited mobility and how long it took for full recovery( found regular stuff at home, going back to work, driving car , etc). If you got radiotherapy, how long was to start it after the surgery?thank
-
Yes, I had one drain on each side. Thankfully I only had them for a week. One side really hurt from the stitch or tape so I was happy when it was gone.
I didn’t have nearly as much pain as I expected. I think I took the pain pills for a couple days and then just at night for a couple more days. Where the lymph node was removed it was very tender and that’s right where the side of my bra hit so I was changing bras every couple hours just to help with the tenderness. I even used a wide ace bandage a few times.
I had a lot of fatigue. If I sat down on the couch the next thing I knew I was napping. I didn’t drive for a month but that was only because I didn’t have to. I could have driven way sooner. Closing the car door was difficult for a while. Also, opening big heavy doors at commercial buildings.
I could only sleep on my back, propped up at an angle until the drains were removed. Then for the next 3 weeks I could sleep on my side so I cuddled up to some pillows. Happy to get back to stomach sleeping after a month
I only had one lymph node removed on each side so my mobility wasn’t affected too much. By the time I could shower (at one week, after the drains were removed) I could wash my own hair. Two months after surgery I was still feeling some tightness so I tried some different stretches at the gym. The funny thing was, once I did a stretch, it completely removed the tightness. Guess my muscles were ready to get used.
I didn’t work so I can’t answer that for you. It will depend on how physical your job is and how much fatigue you have. Also, no radiation. In the scheme of things I got off pretty easy.
PM me if you want to see my pictures.

What is the Goldilocks treatment

There is someone on this board who had Goldilocks with aweful results. She ended up getting DIEP this winter at NOLA. If you are considering this option, try to find her posts.

Hi ladies. Anyone here who did bilateral Goldilocks mastectomy.? I had bilateral Goldilocks on August 2019.Aesthetically is not too bad until now. But I noticed a hard mass in my healthy breast since the drains were out. When in January 2920I asked to my plastic surgeon about it, he said probably is the fat is dying but it is harmless. The thing is that hard mass is still there and gotbigger and sometimes causes discomfort . My mammogram was postponed to June due to Covid19. I wanted at least confirm my plastic surgeons hypothesis that is harmless hardened fat.
I like to know if you noticed such thing in your breasts constructed by Goldilocks méthode or even with other méthode using your own tissues and fat and if it went away by itself with time?
Thanks
