Benign biopsy, but surgery still suggested.

I'm trying to figure out exactly where I fit in with all this. My biopsy was negative for malignancy a year ago, but MRI suggested ductal excision based on symptoms. I have had spontaneous discharge since Nov 2017, sometimes even bloody which was confirmed by test to be blood. My first mammo was BIRAD3 and I had a stereotactic biopsy which showed columnar cell changes and cyst fragments. Went for my follow up mammo, which prompted a 3D and then MRI as I am still symptomatic. I go Monday to meet the breast surgeon and see what my options are. My PCP suggested a massive reduction and removing all ducts to reduce the symptoms- but I worry the scarring could mask cancer and make screenings more difficult in the future. I am almost to the point of being ready to go through with a mastectomy based on 2 grandmothers having BC and aunts.
I guess I just wanted to put that out there. This has been ongoing and I am only 33, so not looking forward to scanxiety the rest of my life.

I would take the advice of the breast surgeon. A PCP does not specialize in diseases of the breast. Good luck and let us know what the surgeon has to say.

I'm hoping we make some sort of game plan tomorrow. My nerves are on edge with this, but I also feel like I shouldn't complain as so far it has been benign breast disease. Blegh!

I guess I just worry that the Surgeon might feel I'm overreacting by being to the point of being okay with a mastectomy rather than reduction surgery and continuing biopsies.

As far as I know, columnar cell changes and cysts are entirely benign and not high risk.I would ignore the PCP and listen to the breast surgeon.
